Bio

W. D. MAYBERRY BIO

I was born in Canberra, Australia, and now live in Karawang, Indonesia, where I’m fortunate to pursue my passion for writing. My love for storytelling began during my time in the Royal Australian Navy, and it’s only grown since then. Inspired by literary icons like Robert Louis Stevenson, I write across genres, sharing everything from whimsical children’s tales to deeply personal stories of resilience.

One of my most meaningful projects, “The Longest Way Home”, is a memoir inspired by a life-altering accident that changed my perspective and strengthened my love for the written word. I also enjoy creating children’s books like “Bag Chip Bird”, which takes readers on a unique adventure from a bird’s perspective. With over 24 published works available in paperback, eBook, and audiobook formats, my writing continues to be an exploration of the many stories and ideas I hope to share with readers around the world. You can find my books on platforms like Amazon, Rakuten Kobo, and Google Books.

Living in Indonesia allows me to write and reflect in diverse settings, whether I’m on my balcony in Karawang or sipping kopi in a Bandung café. On my Substack blog, “W. D. Mayberry”, I share book reviews, life reflections, and insights into my creative process, with my series “Things I Blog” offering glimpses into the themes and inspirations behind my work. It’s a space to connect with readers who enjoy the journey and discovery within each story.
